Resilience refers to a forest’s ability to withstand and recover from disturbances while maintaining its functions, whereas vulnerability assesses its susceptibility to adverse impacts and adaptation capacity. Resilience focuses on long-term recovery, while vulnerability identifies at-risk areas through mapping. Originating from ecological theory and disaster risk management, respectively, these concepts offer distinct yet complementary approaches to forest assessment and management.
