In Gaza, where war has destroyed nearly everything, Salah El Sadi and his Blue Filter team refuse to give up. Their mission? To rebuild what was lost and provide displaced families, farmers, and refugee camps with clean, safe drinking water using eco-friendly, plant-based filtration systems. AMWAJ is raising $5,000 to help Blue Filter restart its operations and deliver emergency water solutions in Gaza.

Dr. Nazih Toubal Will Participate as Panellist at the 2025 Anna Lindh Forum in Tirana, Albania
Dr. Nazih Toubal, Project Manager at REVOLVE and part of the AMWAJ team, is joining the upcoming Anna Lindh Foundation Forum in Tirana on 18-20 June as a panelist to discuss the green energy transition in the Mediterranean, with a particular focus on North Africa. This year’s ALForum marks 20 years of the Foundation’s commitment to intercultural dialogue and 30 years since the launch of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership.
Founded in 2020, FADA is an independent newsroom made up of Italian freelance reporters working across borders to produce profound public interest multimedia stories. Beyond reporting, FADA also trains young journalists, fosters collaborations, and builds spaces for dialogue to engage with local communities, civil society, and decision-makers on urgent issues, from the climate crisis to migration and food systems.
Climate Change & Environmental Justice Training Series
The MENA region faces severe climate challenges and stark climate injustice.
To support early-career journalists, AMWAJ launched a training series with the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Middle East called Reporting on Environmental Justice in the MENA Region.
After three online modules on the context of climate change and climate justice in the region, and how to report on it, the students are now part of a personalised mentoring programme with the AMWAJ team to support the production of their final stories. Stay tuned to read them soon!
