AMWAJ Launches Campaign to Support Blue Filter: Clean Water for Gaza

Blue Filter LI

AMWAJ has launched a fundraising campaign to raise $5,000 in support of Blue Filter, a Gaza-based company focused on developing innovative water purification technology using natural, plant-based materials to provide clean drinking water.

Despite the destruction of their infrastructure during the war in Gaza, founder Salah El Sadi and his team are determined to rebuild.

Your donation will help restore Blue Filter’s infrastructure and provide clean water to people in Gaza.

    Solar Energy in Jordanian Schools: Achievements and Challenges

    Across Jordan, solar panels are now a familiar sight on public school rooftops. As of 2024, some 680 schools, 17% of the total number, have adopted solar energy to cut costs and boost sustainability. The initiative began in 2015 with a focus on heating systems in colder areas, later expanding through international support including the EU and the SEED program.               International Journalism Festival in Perugia 2025

              At the International Journalism Festival 2025 edition in Perugia, a vibrant group of AMWAJ community journalists came together, some reuniting, others meeting for the first time. What brought them all together was a shared commitment to storytelling across the Mediterranean, from Barcelona to Beirut. Among the group were: Sam Rabiyah, Musab Subuh, Lauren Beauchamp, Ahmetcan Uzlaşık, Vittoria Torsello, Savin Mattozzi, Natalie Donback, Ludovica Longo, Lottie Watters, Vjosa Ƈerkini and Naomi Mihara.

                MedCities - MedCities Launches 2025 Citizen Science Events for Marine Conservation

                Last year's successful event in Ancona, in which several stakeholders discussed local marine and litoral biodiversity, will be followed up this year with another meeting in the neighbouring city of San Benedetto del Tronto.  At the end of June, MedCities will organise a guided walk with citizens in which observations will be uploaded to the MINKA platform. In addition, an event with scuba divers will allow the observation of marine species.
