RESIST enters 2026 with an expanded range of solutions to strengthen climate resilience.
The RESIST project is now in its fourth year, with climate adaptation solutions actively being implemented by communities across Europe. Solutions are already being transferred between regions, demonstrating their adaptability to shared climate challenges. A central repository is being advanced further, linking these solutions to a wider range of resources, including NBS, engineering, and digital resources, as well as locally generated research data produced in collaboration with communities.
RESIST continues to communicate and disseminate its research and innovations through active participation in events across Europe and by maintaining a strong digital presence, ensuring its commitment to climate resilience reaches an ever-wider audience.
In this edition of The Stitch, we present our latest animated video, alongside articles showcasing recent webinars and newly launched solutions, as well as highlights from events and partner activities. In 2026, RESIST remains committed to supporting the people and territories most exposed to climate risks.

Early Warning Systems: Turning Climate Risk into Action
Early warning systems are built on data and scientific models. They combine real-time observations from sensors, weather stations, radars, and satellites with weather forecasts and impact models to assess how hazards could affect people and infrastructure. Additional information, such as historical data or emergency reports, can further strengthen these systems. To understand how early warning systems work in practice, watch the latest RESIST animation.
The RESIST Repository Visualises CCA Solutions Across Europe
The RESIST repository is a powerful tool that supports the visualisation of climate change adaptation (CCA) solutions across the 12 RESIST regions and beyond. It is connected to the solutions developed within the project through which the repository can be accessed. Developed by KU Leuven within the RESIST project, it can serve as a shared reference point for evidence-based climate adaptation beyond the project itself.
RESIST Drives Regional Climate Resilience through its CoP and CoI
Through its Communities of Practice (CoP) and Communities of Interest (CoI), RESIST has brought together stakeholders from across Europe to exchange expertise, co-design solutions, and implement nature-based solutions (NBS) that enhance climate resilience in local communities. Several sessions held throughout 2025 featured inspiring conversations that help regions to understand climate risks, develop strategic adaptation pathways, and deploy innovative solutions.
The project review results have been received from the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). The report based on the experts’ feedback confirms that: “RESIST is progressing very well and delivered already tangible results. Coordination has been effective in managing this complex project and ensuring that it is soundly anchored to both the regional and local needs and to the overall EU policy framework. Efforts on dissemination of projects results and feedback to policy are notable. Keep the momentum!”.
Vilija Balionyte-Merle, RESIST project coordinator, is confident that this appreciation reassures our large team that we are on the right path and further inspires us to continue striving for excellence in our commitments towards climate resilience.
Seeds of Change session at the Finance Innovation Festival
The Startup Europe Regions Network (SERN) presented a RESIST Project case study led by the Turku University of Applied Sciences to help cities compare options using not only “engineering costs”, but also the benefits residents actually feel.
