General Assembly meeting in Tuscany!
The 3rd GA, held on 20 and 21 October, kicked off in Pisa.
Thanasis Sfetsos, Med-IREN Project Coordinator, presented the project’s key objectives and the major achievements from its first year. Each regional partner then shared the challenges and Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) shaping their region's path toward climate resilience. The day ended with a field visit to Marina di Pisa, where partners explored the coastal area set to test a new type of gravel designed to reduce flooding and coastal erosion.
Then, partners travelled to Florence and attended workshops on coastal adaptation, followed by a presentation by Professor Enzo Pranzini (University of Florence), who highlighted the growing issue of coastal erosion in Italy. Partners exchanged insights on digital tools, climate risk and resilience, bringing collaboration and innovation across regions.
This meeting was proudly part of the UN Ocean Decade Activity.
A big thank you to our Italian hosts, Regione Toscana, Università degli Studi di Firenze, and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, for their warm welcome!
See you at the next one!
